Eugen studied fashion design at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. After participating in a series of workshops, exhibitions and fairs in the trade, he remained faithful to the place where he had made his first collection, at the end of his studies, namely Laurea Lazea’s production factory. The most important brand for which this factory works is Max Mara. The design and execution of garments “named after him” reflect the experience in this technically very rigorous work environment.
Eugen, tell me what your sources and themes are.
The way clothing items and movement relate, hence an assumed obsession for silk.
Is there any recurrent element/symbol/theme in your work?
Materiality complimenting the body, a smart shape, or a “pop” reference.
What are you working on right now?
I’m working on a collection that I know right now is an illustration of melancholy and “shine” on a repetitive form of design. It’s a phase of “stretching”, modelling forms will take several hours of work!
Do you have an Ars poetica? Where do you keep it :) ?
I don’t have one:)
Tell me three essential things about art: the good, the bad and the ugly. Also let's paraphrase :))).
I’m trying pay attention to art, I think this is essential.
What's your favorite color and why?
Skin color, nude (it’s a perfect canvas for me).
Techniques: stolen, learned, applied? How important is it to you to master all that?
Currently I rather abuse technique, I work in an environment that allows for that. It is very important to master and apply them efficiently!
Tell me three artists you like, who motivate you and make you work.
Wolfgang Tillmans, Roisin Murphy, Daft Punk :))).
