Mărgica!

Bead, bead… where else have I heard that word before? I don’t use it often, I don’t have it around me, however, it resonates within me from somewhere far away… Got it! I was in kindergarten and the biggest joy was the screenings of illustrated filmstrips with stories and tales. Which do you think was the most popular? “The bag with two pennies”, of course! As you know, the roster pulls the old man out of poverty when he returns home with the riches, while the crone’s hen returns with just a… bead. The disproportion was obvious from the illustration, however, as a child, I could not clearly see why the feat of the hen was so reprehensible, it had found a bead! The word sounded very precious to me, I didn’t know what a bead was, but it seemed to be a kind of diamond that was definitely worth more than the crone’s reproach on the poor hen. I then came across the bead in other stories heard in childhood, every time, time this word sent me to a fairy-tale land with good and gentle fairies, and there was another word: “pliers”, remember this one? 🙂 From that world, the echo of the word “bead”, reverberated towards me. Face it, you say “bead” and the world is prettier! Especially if the bead is passed through Victoria’s fire! I know it sounds glorious, but that’s the name of the one who brought back the bead from my childhood :).

Victoria, how did you come up with this name?
The story started in 2013, when I was making colored beaded accessories. I had another Facebook page that, in translation, was called ‘Cheerful Jewelry’, but I wasn’t happy with the name. I wanted a short but catchy name, easily memorable and effective. I brainstormed with my husband and he came up with the idea for Mărgica (Bead), for which I am forever grateful! In my circle of friends, and at the office, my name is Mărgica, I feel like a little VIP.😊

Jewelry was not your basic profession but here you are being serious about it, what motivated you?
I made the first jewelry out of  hobby. The same husband I mentioned above :), told me one day that it would be better for me to create my own jewelry rather than just buy it! I didn’t think I could, until my first clients were actually people with a bold sense of taste, personality, people ‘with a twist’ whom I admired in terms of clothing. That’s when I first felt proud of myself. I still feed on customer satisfaction and their kind words. Whether someone buys a piece of silver jewelry or a chain with colored beads, their delight is worth my effort. I am very happy when customers come to me through recommendations, it’s a special feeling that I never get tired of.

I visit the design fairs organized in Cluj and I always have the joy to discover special designers. What do you think makes your creations special?
I think more working hours in the workshop than others. I don’t feel talented, nor having much experience in jewelry, so it takes me longer to finish a piece. I believe that when jewelry is a hobby and not a source of income, you can be out of the norms, meaning you have more time and you can turn your ideas into something real. That’s what I do in the Mărgica workshop and I think that’s what sets me apart from others.

The author of the logo?
My husband created the logo according to my requirements: it had to be pink, more precisely magenta! I don’t like complicated things, so the logo has nothing sophisticated. The brand’s name in my favorite color was enough for me. At the end I put an exclamation sign, let everyone know that we are serious.😊

What do you think your brand conveys?
In the past, when I made chains from colored beads, my achievements were the moments when I managed to accessorize someone who had not worn accessories before. I felt that my brand represents attitude, color, well-being, smiles, eclectic style. Today I feel that my jewelry is special in simplicity, uniqueness, maturity, personality. I think that at this moment Mărgica sends to a style as minimalist as possible, but somehow special, with a huge ring on the forefinger, a special wedding ring or a stone carefully mounted in a pendant at the base of the neck.

What is your favorite product from your own range?
My favorite product is the first ever silver ring created by Mărgica. It had the shape of a square that has a missing edge. Thus the ring becomes size adjustable and can be worn from morning to evening, even at times when our fingers get swollen. The ring did not required welding, it was made of silver sheet which I bent. The width of the ring was 10mm, which gave it a new feature from my point of view – the ring with a twist!
